Team scoring — men's overall, women's overall, men's Novices overall — rewards breadth of participation over specialist depth. To win, a company needs bodies in as many events as possible. The team from CDB claims all three of those team titles plus a haul of individual championships. The release describes the MAF Meet as one of the most keenly contested fixtures in Sri Lanka's corporate sporting calendar. The four records span four event groups that are physiologically different. Race walking is an endurance problem judged step by step by officials. The triple jump is explosive power plus technical coordination. The high jump is vertical elasticity. And the 400m hurdles is one of the most brutal events on the track: speed, rhythm and speed-endurance must align across ten barriers. A squad setting records in all four groups is talking about depth, which is exactly what the team-scoring format rewards. The standout is Umaya Rathnayake. She took two individual honours — Best Athlete in the women's Championship category and Best Athlete among all women — alongside a 400m hurdles meet record. A rare double like that at a corporate meet places her at a different level from the rest of the field. The 400m hurdles is not an event just anyone can run; it demands barrier technique, pace distribution and the ability to absorb pain over the final 150 metres. Bhakthi Wijesinghe competes in the 30+ group, the masters phase of an event built on technical power. At that age, experience partly replaces lost speed — but how much it replaces can only be measured against a concrete distance. Kamod de Silva in the men's Championship high jump and Kandhasami Sham in the men's Novices race walk complete the four-group picture, while Shakila Wijesekara took Best Athlete in the men's Novices category.
